We like to follow up yesterdays post about the electricity cost calculator by giving some free tips which might save you on your electricty consumption

  • Reduce the temperature of your geyser to around 55 degrees so that you don’t have to mix too much cold water when you shower or do the dishes.
  • Install a watersaving shower head which not only will reduce your waterbill but also your electricity due to less use of hot water
  • When cooking keep the lids of the pots closed this will conserve heat and will save energy

With the ever increasing cost of electricty (both economically e.g. price and environmentally burning of fossil fuels etc) it is maybe good to be aware what your average appliance you use at home costs you. We found this calculator which will calculate that for you just enter your Kwh tarrif (ours is R0,85 but it will differ per country / town etc)

Fill in some details of your appliance and  calculate
